Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum

Mission

The mission of the Suffolk County Black Nurses Association is to serve as a united and empowered voice for Black nurses, dedicated to advocating for health equity and addressing systemic disparities in healthcare. Through education, mentorship, and community engagement, we strive to implement effective strategies that promote the highest quality of care for communities of color.

We are committed to fostering professional excellence, advancing culturally competent healthcare practices, and creating a supportive network that empowers nurses to lead positive change in their communities.

Whatever adversely affects BLACK PEOPLE, wherever they may be, whoever they may be, affects us all.

Chapter History

The SCBNA is a new chapter of the National Black Nurses Association, located in Silver Springs, Maryland. The Founder and immediate Past President, Jacqueline Winston held the first meeting in November of 2018 at Panera Bread in Selden, New York. After sharing information on social media and word of mouth, a total of seven nurses attended the meeting. These nurses discussed the mission and vision for the SCBNA. They inspired each other on approaches to promote leadership and mentorship to other nurses. They also discussed methods on serving communities by providing, health screenings, information on health prevention strategies to help improve health outcomes of people of color. Another important goal is to provide student nurses with scholarships to acquire their education. As we continue to grow in members, we look forward to the opportunities to serve our communities.
